The Pre-Exercise Protein Study

The Pre-Exercise Protein Study

This study will investigate if Whey protein ingestion can minimize the risk of hypoglycaemia during exercise.

The Pre-Exercise Protein Study

The Pre-Exercise Protein Study

The purpose of this research study is to collect data that can help to answer questions about whether Whey protein ingestion can minimize the risk of hypoglycaemia during several different exercise conditions. The study will compare hypoglycaemia risk and overall glucose control in adults with type 1 diabetes in response to moderate intensity exercise with very little insulin delivered prior to exercise and separately when more insulin is delivered pre-exercise.

Participation in this study will involve:

  •  A minimum of three visits to the clinical trials centre at St Vincent’s hospital.
  • There is the option to opt into more exercise conditions, with a total of nine visits.

Become a participant!
If you are:

  • Currently on a Medtronic 780G system
  • Be between 18-70 years old
  • Not on any GLP-1 medication, such as Ozempic

Then you may be a good match for this study

Meet Kim Henshaw who is a participant in type 1 diabetes technology research at the DTRG. Watch Kim explain what it means to her to be a participant in this important area of research.

*All clinical trial participants must live within traveling distance of St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, as you will be required to attend regular clinical visits during your participation
