Results of the REGENT-1 study presented at ADC 2025
This week, D.T.R.G is attending D.T.R.G are attending the Australian Diabetes Congress 2025, hosted by Australian Diabetes Educators Association and the Australian Diabetes Society. At this conference, Prof David O’Neal and Dr John Apostolopoulos both presented the ongoing results of the REGENT-1 study.
The REGENT-1 study investigated the feasibility of a novel treatment for type 2 diabetes using a non surgical, day procedure called duodenal mucosal re-celluarization. This procedure aims to regenerate the cells that help to regulate blood sugar in the duodenum, an area at the beginning on the small intestine. The preliminary results of the REGENT-1 trial were positive, with many participants experiencing a significant improvement in glycaemic control and a significant decrease in blood glucose levels.
D.T.R.G would like to thank the sponsors of this study, Endogenex, for allowing us the privilege of pioneering this exciting new treatment.
The second iteration of the REGENT-1 study, called the ReCET study, is currently recruiting. To learn more about the ReCET study and to register your interest, follow the link here.
