Dr Pauline Du presents PARTNER exercise study at IDF 2026

Congratulations to Dr Pauline Du on her poster presentation at the combined IDF, ADC and Metabolic Diseases Congress in Melbourne. Dr Du shared results from the PARTNER Exercise Sub-Study, looking at how SGLT2 inhibitors, a type of diabetes medication that helps lower blood sugar by causing the kidneys to remove more glucose through urine, affect people with type 1 diabetes during high-intensity exercise. In this small study of 13 participants, blood sugar and ketone levels after exercise were similar between those taking the medication and those taking a placebo. Larger studies are needed to better understand the safety of SGLT2 inhibitors during exercise in people with type 1 diabetes.
