Dr Hannah Cunningham presents at ADC 2025
We would like to congratulate Dr Hannah Cunningham for her presentation and posters at ADC 2025 last week. Hannah presented two posters and one oral presentation surrounding the outcomes of a number of feasibility studies we have facilitated investigating the combination of glucose sensing and insulin delivery in one cannula. The projects are as follows:
The SMART study
The SMART study as a feasibility study looking at a novel insulin patch pump that combines glucose sensing at the site of insulin delivery in a single insertion device. The results of the study found that this was feasible, but requires more research to become a viable and effective method of insulin delivery and glucose sensing.
The SLC 7-Day study
The SLC-7 Day study was a study exploring the feasibility of wearing a combined glucose sensing, insulin delivering cannula over an extended period of 7 days. The results found that the integration of a CGM with an insulin infusion set is feasible in the current iteration for up to four days, but glucose sensor accuracy and insulin delivery integrity declined when worn for 7 days. As such, future research should focus on ensuring integrity of insulin delivery over an extended duration, improvements in glucose sensing accuracy.
