Dr Dale Morrison presents at ADA 2025
We would like to congratulate Dr Dale Morrison for his well-received poster at ADC 2025. Dr Morrison’s work, supported by The Helmsley Charitable Trust, showcased preliminary findings from an ongoing series of studies examining the efficacy of whey protein in reducing exercise-related hypoglycemia in individuals with type 1 diabetes. This specific iteration of the research revealed promising results, demonstrating that 0.5g/kg of pre-exercise protein consumption effectively mitigated the decline in blood glucose levels following an hour of moderate-intensity exercise. This effect was observed in both high and low insulin on board conditions, highlighting the potential of this intervention strategy to support people living with type 1 diabetes to exercise safely. Dr Morrison’s investigation into the use of whey protein as a preventative treatment for exercise induced hypogycemia is going in the Pre-Exercise Protein Study and the Post-Exercise Protein Ingestion Study.
