The REGENT-1 study evaluating an investigational endoscopic (non-surgical) procedure for the
treatment of Type 2 Diabetes, called the Endogenex procedure, is currently enrolling participants. The Endogenex procedure is designed to promote regeneration of the cells in small intestine that help mange blood sugar levels. During an Endogenex procedure, while the participant is asleep, a doctor uses a small flexible camera to introduce a special device through the mouth to the small intestine. The device is used to apply a precise, controlled, electric current to the lining (mucosa) of the small intestine.
This delivery of energy is designed to trigger the body’s natural process to promote regeneration of healthy cells that help control blood sugar levels.
